Diagnostic Systems teamed up with the Maryland Hospital Association earlier
this year to form the BD-MHA Hospital Scholars Program to support Maryland
residents who are preparing for careers in health care professions. Ten
hospital employees have been selected to receive scholarships of $2,500 each
from the 2002 BDMHA Hospital Scholars Program. Four of the recipients are
pursuing BSN degrees in nursing, and two are pursuing associate nursing
degrees. One recipient is enrolled in a pharmacy program, and one each in
sonography, rehabilitation services, and life sciences. Over 100 applications
were reviewed by a multidisciplinary panel of judges representing the health
professions, as well as hospital and professional school administrators. The
scholarship recipients were honored at a reception hosted by BD Diagnostics,
