for Speakers

Before giving a speech about the rewards of a nursing
career, be sure to read these
Frequently Asked Questions.
In order to maintain the Speakers Bureaus high level
of integrity, all speakers are asked to make certain commitments.
As a member of the Speakers Bureau, each speaker agrees
to:
- Maintain access to the Internet.
- Maintain an e-mail address.
- Check e-mail at least once a week.
- Maintain up-to-date contact information on file.
- Accept at least five assignments during the calendar
year.
- Respond to requests for speaking engagements within a
reasonable time frame.
- Contact the requesting group to finalize arrangements
just before the event.
- Complete an evaluation form and return it within ten days
of your talk. (Speaker's
form available online.)
- Make sure the individual responsible for scheduling your
talk has a form for evaluating the program. Please request that the evaluation
form be filled out and returned within ten days of the engagement. (Requestor's
form available online.)
Maintaining Current Contact Information Contact
Update Form: If your contact information (phone, fax, e-mail),
employment status, or availability changes, please complete this form and
return to speakersbureau@mhaonline.org,
or fax to Speakers Bureau at 410-379-8239.

To
Request a Speaker: Information You Should KnowUse the various criteria
to search for a speaker who most closely fits your requirements. Select from
the names returned in response to your search request by clicking on the name
of the person.
When contacting the speaker, use the information
supplied with each individual. Please include the following in your
request:
- Date, time, and location of event
- Type of event (example: classroom presentation, panel
discussion, career fair - please specify)
- Audience (age, school grade, etc.)
The speaker should respond to you directly to indicate
availability. If the speaker is not available, repeat the search and try
another contact. If the speaker accepts the request, be prepared to provide
travel directions, and any requested audio-visual or other material and /or
equipment.
Also confirm that you will be present and available to help
if needed during the event. Speakers have requested that teachers must
be present in the classroom to assist as needed, and maintain order during the
event.
