Expanded Varian Scholarship Program Will Boost Number of Radiation Therapists
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has announced a $440,000 donation to its scholarship program to address the shortage of radiation therapists. The contribution by Varian Medical Systems Inc. will fund 83 scholarships of $5,000 each over the next five years for students entering educational programs in radiation therapy.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Awarded under the federal aid program, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants are available to students with exceptional need who are progressing satisfactorily toward a degree. By law, top priority is given to students who are Federal Pell Grant recipients.

National Student Nurses' Association
Includes scholarships for students currently enrolled in state-approved schools of nursing or pre-nursing in associate degree, baccalaureate, diploma, generic doctorate, and generic master's programs. Funds for graduate study are available for a first degree in nursing.

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Health Professions
The Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of Health Professions Division of Nursing is the Federal focus for nursing education and practice.

Internal Revenue Service
Contains links to tax forms for those who qualify for income tax credits for higher education expenses. The Hope Credit, a tax credit worth up to $1,500 per student, is available to first- and second-year students enrolled at least half-time. The Lifetime Learning Credit is a tax credit equal to 20 percent of a family's tuition expenses, up to $5,000, for virtually any postsecondary education and training, including subsequent undergraduate years, graduate and professional schools, and even less-than-half-time study.
